I thought that block was getting rezoned to Hearst?

I love the old soapstone tub in the basement -
and did not realize any other house in the area had the linen closet over the toilet. I found the house that was designed by the same builder as mine!

yep, that's why we're staying in our dinky $1M house in AU Park when something in N Potomac or somewhere else suburbia would be lots bigger and nicer.

Close in "suburbia" isn't any cheaper…for the same house.

Go away.

School boundary changes can wreak havoc with property values. Everyone knows that AU Park real estate is overpriced on a per square foot basis because of the much better-than-average DC public schools. The DME proposals have caused a lot of concern, and are likely to change a lot in the upcoming political free-for-all. Some parts of AU could conceivably move to Heast from Janney although that is unlikely. Under one proposal, Wilson could be lottery-only admission.

Parts of this street feed to Hearst. But this block is very close to janney.

#1 rule in real estate = location. yep, that's why we're staying in our dinky $1M house in AU Park when something in N Potomac or somewhere else suburbia would be lots bigger and nicer. Love, love, love being able to WALK to multiple metros, parks, restaurants, CVS, Whole Foods, library, shopping, etc. Location!

Am I the only one that is not totally shocked by this? I don't have that kind of money for a house and maybe I watch too much HGTV, but this place looks like it would be fine with a decent renovation - and then worth $1 million plus.

I feel sorry for whomever buys this house. A sucker's market.

Well it's not under contract so we don't know what the final price is. I would guess they get at least what they are asking for. A 2BR house sold in AU park this spring for $1M and a 3BR up 1 BR basement sold for 1.45$ - both about a block from each other.

The garage was most likely original, but the room over it is probably an addition.
