My neighbor gave me a framed picture of my dog after he died. I love it and keep it in my living room. I gave some friends flowers when their dog died and they seemed to be pleasantly surprised.

This thread is heartening. I love you all.

When our dog died, our neighbors brought us dinner the next day. It even included drinks (beer and wine for DH and I, chocolate milk for the kids). I thought it was very nice, and I appreciated that someone realized what a big loss this was for us. We also got a few sympathy cards, which was very nice.

Flowers are always nice.
