I don't recall the last time my mom, my dad (divorced), and I were in the country at the same time, and my only sibling lives in Asia. If I can't reach them by cell, email usually works. You mean when I'm coming to visit? Yes, because my parents live 10 minutes from the airport and want to come pick us up. So, I give them the flight details - my dad tracks whether the flight is on time or delayed, so he can get there in time and not have to sit around for an hour when it's delayed.
