A friend blurts out, whatever you do don't name her X, there are two in my daughters class at school and it is just too popular…..Wouldn't you know that is the name we chose and were in love with it. I was tormented for the next two months trying to decide if I wanted to keep the name I adored or change because of someone else's comment. I'm glad I decided to keep the name, she is 3 and in daycare. We haven't met another child with the same name. I think a "common" name now is not the same as a common name in the 70's. Because while there is still a list of very popular names it is a lot longer and there are many more names in circulation. i.e having a #1 name in 1970 may have meant 15% of the population, not it would be like 3%
