I have two friends who experienced strange facial sensations and then numbing in their faces. Both turned out to have (benign) brain tumors. The tumors were removed and they're fine now, but still. Both friends in excellent physical condition when they were diagnosed.

Who knows, but definitely vote for getting it checked out. If it is Bell's Palsy, it can result from Lyme disease. Happened to my grandmother -- everyone assumed stroke, but nope, it was lyme. Antibiotics cured it.
Probably something relatively harmless, but even if it's a sinus infection or an infection in the tooth location, you still want to treat it.

I had a similar thing happen and it was a sinus infection ( didn't have a fever). Get it checked out!

Wow, you all are really starting to scare me and I'm not the op. I get weird sensations in my face from time to time. Kinda feels like skin sensitivity. Always assumed it was a sinus thing.

Hey OP, I posted with a similar random concern a few months ago - it was a droopy eye. Everyone here threw out ideas including some of those above and urged me to see a neurologist. They were right - I wound up spending a few days in the hospital and then 2 months without the use of my eye. It was nerve damage, so far the cause is idiopathic (not known - I'm still living a House episode) and there were scary moments en route. I still can't see well enough to drive according to one of my doctors. I'm in perfect health too but I came across a surprising number of people who had experienced far more serious issues like this, totally out of the blue in their 30s and 40s. Moral of the story - get yourself checked by your primary; if you don't have one get one; don't dismiss symptoms and find yourself forced to go the ER.

It could be a sinus infection. One set of sinuses sits above your upper teeth. If there is infection there, it can cause pain or weird sensations in your teeth or pain in the general area. And, if one set of sinuses is more impacted by infection than the other, then that would explain why you are feeling things on one side and not the other.

Also consider the possibility of shingles. Many people describe weird sensations prior to onset of the rash.
Definitely get it checked out.
