May be cheesy, even when people come in and smell it, but the psychology of it is not really a point anyone can argue.

Nothing with a strong odor.

If your house is pricing right, clean and in good shape, and doesn't cost a gazillion dollars, you'll need to worry about this for 4 days. (Thursday-Sunday the week you list.) Me personally, I could avoid cooking anything for 4 days.

We ate out. Our house was only on the market for a few days before we got offers, though.

The inventory is low and the market is very tight. You do not have to jump through hoops. If a buyer wants your home, they will bid on it.

We were concerned about this, but it turned out we didn't need to be. When we listed, we had a showing pretty much every day around dinner time. We just ate out for a week. Though we listed in late February, so there was less time between work and sunset, and most people don't want to look at a house in the dark.

No frying, no leeks/garlic/onions, no asian, no curry. Otherwise, you are fine!

Do not bake cookies all the time, so cheesy when realtors suggest this.

I would not fry anything. My renter fries everything she makes (she's paleo) and the smell is disgusting. (it doesn't help that she doesn't understand the concept of the exhaust fan.) I wouldn't do anything with curry, or really, anything with a strong smell. I'd probably bake more, and cook pasta with oregano and basil.
