Ha! When I was a little kid, my neighbor across the narrow alley was an at-home-in-her-apartment nudist (maybe other places too-- dunno).

I wouldn't say I was traumatized, probably because she was (also) female and I never saw her doing anything for which nudity was relevant. I just thought she was weird, and this was probably reinforced by my mother's constant declarations about how weird her frequent nudity was.

So I don't think OP needs to fret a whole lot on her kids' behalves... it's only a big deal if you point it out. On the other hand, these days more gossipy friends and family members have routinely been frustrated by my lack of curiosity re. my own neighbors' lives, so maybe it didn't bother me too much because I wasn't actually motivated to watch my childhood neighbor.

My daughter is 4 and she is having swimming classes almost everyday in the morning. She has been seeing a lot of naked bodies and so far hasn't asked anything (thank GOD!). I wouldn't mind any question at all, but I am always afraid she will make some offensive comment or question regarding someone's else body like: "why does that woman has a big butt?" or something along those lines.

Anyway, my point is: open your blinds and live your life - are you going to keep your house in the dark forever?

However, I would not like to have people seeing me all the time (naked or not) and if your lots are that close, you might want to consider the bottom up/top down type of blinds. I have them because I live in the first floor of a condo and I love it! Before my blinds were always close because I hated being in the kitchen for instance and having people walking right in front of us with their dogs and see everything that was going on in my house.

Now, with the new blinds the top is always down half way through, so I have plenty of natural light but total privacy still.

I would do half curtains or get the plastic sheeting from Home Depot that makes your windows opaque. Not ideal, but you'd still allow daylight in.

Can you get the shades that pull up from the bottom? That way they will out of the kids' sight.
