More like gangs, drugs, the Mafia, and Rhode Island accents.

Mountain View, assuming you have $$$$$. I watched a house hunters there and it was pretty shocking how much $$ you need to buy a place.

Not Mountain View - used to live there and its too much like DC. I'd pick anywhere south of Santa Barbara - not that you asked.

Never Minneapolis - I don't care how "nice" it is....it is too cold which is a non-starter for me. Its bad enough in DC

Never Phoenix - too much gang activity/violence and too hot. You would end up spending a lot of time indoors between March-October.

Never Providence - too far north, too cold and lots of gang violence. Big drug problem. And yes, I know every place has a drug problem but Providence has a "special reputation" in that category.

Maybe St.Louis - vibrant young scene. Similar to Denver in that regard....just not pretty like Denver.

You cannot lose with Cali.

Have you ever lived in California? I'm not sure if I'd want to live there again. Mountain View doesn't have a great feel, to me, and it's very expensive. It's true that you'd be in state for the UCs. On the other hand, many of the UCs are very tough to get into now.

Phoenix is a nonstarter for me. I don't like the desert and the water issues are serious. Much of California has water issues too. Many people like the Twin Cities and speak of the high quality of life there.

Rhode Island does have that old Italian feel, and it's not my favorite New England state by any means, but I'd probably vote for Providence. It's one of those eastern coastal cities, like Portsmouth and Portland, that's seeing a lot of nice growth and change. Not prohibitively expensive, lots of interesting people and cultural life due to Brown and RISD, and proximity not just to the coast but to many lovely places.

I'd take Providence for its proximity to the mountains and beaches as well as Boston and New York!

Too fucking hot and everyone has fake tits and lots of tattoos.

Kids are named 'Blaze' and 'Riker', and such .

Dumb young people and tons of Geezers.

Mexicans and people that hate them.

Yuck!!!
Sounds like a hell of a party !
Yes people know how to have fun out there! Lots of clubs, bars, block parties, etc.
I never knew how fun the southwest/so cal area and lifestyle were until I moved away from it.
Everywhere has been so dull so far in comparison.

Of the choice, I think I would find another option. Minn is too cold, Providence is to providential, Mountain view too much $$$$, Phoenix to hot, and St Louis has to much Cardnals grrr...must pull out the Kozma voodoo doll..the good news is Kozma was demoted to AAA

I really liked Mountain View when I visited. Dh is from Phoenix though and he makes it sound great....
Nothing against the others but it would be between those two.

Providence is grimy, rough, and cold.

Minnesota is cold.

So anywhere but those two.

How much money do you have? Mountain View is prohibitively expensive for most people. It makes real estate in this area look like a downright bargain.

Providence is pretty rough. Both that and Minneapolis are too cold.

So, either St. Louis or Phoenix.
