Concerns about this at your IB school or at CM? There. This is what I was trying to do!

We are concerned about the 2nd grade teachers at our IB school. Our good news is we were offered a spot today.

I haven't heard many parents in the upper grades that are leaving, but I don't know every single parent and what their plans are.

Good luck to all of you on the waitlist!

Any idea why this family is leaving? Did they get into an immersion charter, private, relocating, etc.? However, understood that you may not be able to say for privacy reasons.

Was there anything you didn't like about your IB school that is better at CM? We haven't yet tried our IB school (our child is accepted for PS3).

The concerns are about IB school, not CM.

sorry, that was supposed to be a quote. I don't know how to do that.

I am concerned about the quality of teachers for 2nd grade. We had the weakest K teacher; I became immediately skeptical of the school leadership and inadequate teachers then and have heard things about 2 grade teachers that worries me if our oldest ends up in a particular class.

I wouldn't give up hope, people relocate and things change all the time. You might need to be really patient, however.

Any idea what your original #s were on the waitlist (although James told me he doesn't expect the waitlist to move as much as last year's--still nice to have an idea). Also, did you accept, and if not what school did you go with instead?

I think our wait list number was over ten but definitely less than 20. We decided to go with our in boundary school because by that point we had our teacher assignments and were very pleased. We applied again and are wait listed. We will enroll this year if we get offered spots.

Thanks for answering my above question. We are in a similar boat--accepted at our decent IB school, but have a middling waitlist # for CM.

Are you staying at the in boundary school if you don't get in? Seems foolish to turn down a school for K & 1st and then apply again the next yr for 1st and 2nd grades.

Yes, we would probably stay in boundary if we don't have another choice. To your comment about turning down K&1st, we have been very happy this year so no regrets. Second grade teachers are questionable and if we stayed until 5th there are no solid options. What seems foolish to me is to not explore other options.
