I once spent 20 minutes cleaning out a junk drawer in the kitchen and proudly showing it to DH, whose reaction was , "Wow! Any guest who goes looking through out drawers will be impressed."

I have ADD. Perhaps these DHs do, too?

I had a baby last week. When it was seriously time to leave for the hospital, he was packing individual snacks for our DDs and labeling them meticulously for our friends who watched them. I gave birth 4 minutes after arriving at hospital.

It's a little bit endearing sometimes, but mostly it makes me crazy.

Ladies, my DH is like that too. But I actually think there is more to it, it is an exit strategy or a stress coping mechanism, conscious or unconscious.
Also to do with procrastination.

In any case, very annoying and not helpful.

Separate rant: For my kid's at-home birthday party, I took care of everything while DH spent the entire night before hand drawing a "pin the astronaut on the moon" game that we -- wait for it -- FORGOT TO PLAY at the party. O - M - GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Another poster with the same DH. Mine is fond of cleaning the driveway with the hose in times of crisis. DRIVES ME NUTS.

hee hee. My DH will be outside doing lawn stuff (when no one will be going outside) or rearranging the cds when I really need someone to help me get the bathrooms clean/prepare food etc.

Just ask him to bring the vacuum upstairs to use.

Next the lawn mower will need its annual tune up or the cars need oil changed.

LOVE my DH. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE him. But his ability to focus on unimportant minutiae when something very important needs to be done absolutely astounds me. Yes, he too would be vacuuming the basement in preparation for a party on the main floor. Mine's been known to want to fix the leaky faucet in the master bathroom sink ten minutes before company is due for dinner instead of setting the table or something.

Adore him, but even my MIL and sister-in-law tell me that he has no really good sense of time and must-do priorities when it comes to family stuff like this, and he was like this even as a kid.
