At CP you know who your child will be - very good teacher for 3rd/ Excellent teacher for 4th/ Great teacher for 5th. (Don't know much about the 6th grade teacher)
3rd and 4th grade teachers are experienced AAP teachers. 5th grade teacher is in her 2nd year and has been mentored by the 4th grade teacher.

At GBW - you will get one of about 5 teachers for each grade. Many first time AAP teachers as well.

it is true that there are three academic tracks at RR vs two at the base middle school. The AAP honors are considered a different track of study. AAP kids are automatically signe up for this track unless the parents want something different.
The main difference that I see, is in the class pacing and in maths and availability. All the kids have the same electives opportunities like band, drama etc.

The staff at RR is also more familiar with the "AAP" parent. I would say the staff at Lanier was not.

Thank you, you are right, I had no idea. So there is an honors curriculum within Liberty that is equal to a center middle school like Rocky Run? Also, if I understand correctly, whether my child goes to Liberty or Rocky Run they will have to go to Centreville HS, our pyramid HS (by our address.) Did I understand correctly? Kids who are level IV do take AAP classes if they attend an AAP MS Center. These classes are different from honors classes. The level IV status lasts through 8th grade. As you mentioned, for high school they revert back to their base (ie pyramid) HS and choose between regular, honors and AP classes (unless their HS offers IB). In OP's case, since her base elem is CP, his/her base HS should either be Centreville or Fairfax, depending on where she lives. Base MS should either be Liberty or Lanier and AAP MS will be Rocky Run.
