I used to have a Discover card and when I asked for an increase, they asked me how much I wanted. I told them some number that was more than double my then limit and it was approved right away.

Curious - why would people have such high 50k+ limits? Do you ever spend to that level in a month? Is there another benefit?


My dad has one with a 50K limit. He has to travel a lot for work (sometimes internationally), but gets it all re-embursed, so he floats travel expenses on there. I think that's a situation that makes sense.

You should ask for an increase. They probably still have your old income on file.

$30K on Amex and $25K on Visa. Not something I asked for, they just gradually increased over time. Even when charging business expenses I never come close to that. HHI is $200K.

Only time I've ever come close to using that much is charging our kitchen remodel. But I only did it for the points, we pay the card off in full every month.
