Between the people on this thread who have said, "Children need more time to play" and the "MCPS is so bizarre" poster, I'm starting to think we do need to spend more time teaching academics and reading comprehension!

People are recognizing the similarities in stupidness. Cutting back on school plays, recess time, extracurricular, and fun activities under the pretense of being more academic while the curriculum is the farthest thing in the world from being academic.

They keep dumbing down the curriculum and increasing the seat time to do nothing. Makes no sense.

There is nothing college readiness about it under 2.0 yet they don't have enough time for PE more than once a week and very limited recess. What is the point of forcing young children to sit in seats doing boring work way beneath their level of capability??

A school play or even just more outdoor recess would be time better spent than on the 2.0 garbage.

If they were doing something that was academic and rigorous or being challenged then I could see how the schools would be saying they don't have enough time but the stuff they do is ridiculous!!!

You realize the thread is about a school in NY right? Not sure why it was posted in the MD Public Schools forum.
