No. I'm a parent, so its not just my life/happiness that I'd be putting at risk.

I wouldn't even be able to relax enough during sex to enjoy it. I remember one time I was with a partner and the condom broke -- what if that happens w/ the HIV+ partner and you get it? He'll feel terrible, you'll feel AWFUL.
This is not a litmus test for whether you are a good person.

If their HIV is well-controlled and virus count is low, they are taking their drugs, and we use a condom, I could totally see myself dating or having sex with someone who is HIV+. The transmission risk is really, really low. The risk is lower in that situation than it is in a random one night stand.

Oh God. Someone I know just died from HIV. You are nuts.

What did they die from? Did they have AIDS? Often there are other complicating illness like hepatitis or else they were sick for awhile before starting on ART. HIV mortality - especially for white males/females has dropped significantly (not as big a drop for other races).

How does that have anything to do with it? I guess you have never done anything risky before? Had unprotected sex? Done any drugs? Texting while driving?

Must be nice to be the only saint among us.

You're blasting someone for having safe sex? There ARE reasons for having safe sex. Being safe means NOT being stupid, not being a saint.

Np here. I have never had sex with a condom, done drugs, or texted while driving. And there are plenty of others out there like me. But people can get HIV lots of ways, so I don't judge. Actually, regardless, I don't judge. But that doesn't mean I have to out myself at risk for it.

I would be friends with someone who is HIV pos no prob, but date, no.

Oops, big error should have said I have never had sex without a condom

NO, bad idea. This can actually cause HIV to mutate into a worse form.

I have a relative with HIV. She is pretty healthy, but does suffer side effects from the many medications she has to take. Honestly though I would never date someone with it.

Walk away especially if you want children at some point.

No, I would not want to potentially seem them die a painful death from the disease in the event they lost access to meds, etc.
