Those are probably my top favorites, but easter is by far my favorite holiday so I'm not overly picky about my candy. I love it all. Mostly.
Is it a holiday off from work in the U.S? Why is it your favorite holiday, what do you do that day...church and then?
Holiday in US? No, not an official one. It's always on Sunday, so generally I have the day off anyway. Lots of stores are closed so if you work in a service job you may or may not have it off depending on where you work and the nature of your job. Obviously hospitals, policemen, firemen etc are all business as usual.
Why my favorite holiday? Well, the candy for starters. I just really like it! I like that it's spring, the flowers are blooming, we are moving out of the short cold days of winter and into the longer, warmer days of summer. Trees are leafing out, and everyone feels good seeing the sun! The world smells great with all the flowers in bloom. And of course the religious significance which I think goes hand in hand with spring and new life.
What do I do? Relax, think about the meaning of the day. Make au gratin potatoes with the last of my Christmas ham. Pretty much the same things I do the rest of the year but with candy and potatoes, things I don't normally keep on hand.
