You need to do a lot more than just talk. The kids know they're mostly on their own, so they can do what they want. They say their parents don't really care, so why should they? Their activity teachers don't care that much either.

It is horrible. Much as I did not want the pregnant 8th grader in my DDs school isolated, having her sit in the same classroom as my DD was painful. She was also posting the sonogram pictures of the fetus on FB "Its a girl"... Anyways - this did give my DD and I an opportunity to have very frank discussions about sex and its ramifications on kids.

I gave a boy hand jobs in the auditorium. We used to skip lunch, and go fool around in there almost every day. My friend gave a boy a birthday blow job in the woods behind the school - they cut a class and snuck off campus. Trust that there are ways. And places.

When I was 12 my best friend was on birth control and went through several sexual partners that year.

This was 7th grade - my other best friend became sexually active in the 8th grade. Gave blowjobs in an empty room after school or in the woods by the football field. Had sex for the first time later that year in a closet at a party.

I myself became sexually active at the age of 16 while I was a junior.

Not necessarily too much time. I used to hook up at, God help me, church youth group. Not to freak you out, but if it's a co-ed school, there will be opportunities anywhere.

#1. I'm 39. Gave hjs and BJs in 8th grade, and I was otherwise a really good kid (no sex or drinking until college). I had a no-good high school boyfriend, so there you go.
