^^ Also we have to remain in SACC and on the lists because I can't rely on a neighbor for the next 6-10(infant) years that I'll have kids in Elementary school to help get my kids to school. The AF SACC list are much worse. I hope the wait will be worth it. We really just need 1hour BS and 1hr AF.

SACC will not give out the "Actual" sibling number on a wait list. They just tell you your child's number as if you didn't have sibling preference and then say that you are on the sibling list as well. The last time I called they told me they don't have "numbers" for the sibling list but that they do keep it in order from when you called to register. Which actually means they MUST have some sort of number but won't give it out. My second child is #62 for BS care and on the sibling preference list. Called 8am the day registration opened. She most likely will not get a spot for September even with the sibling preference. So I'll have one in BS SACC at base school and one not. It is just nuts. Having to drop a K off at another schools SACC program and then have that child have to take a bus to base school from there is a bit much for a 5 year old to start their day. Plus having to drop my older child off at our main school SACC program and an infant off at another care program. Its very hard for working parents who can't afford a nanny and don't have space for an au pair!

FCPS does not run SACC. Fairfax County runs SACC.

I'm not that PP, but I do know that when I put my younger kid on the list, they told us she was #5. My oldest started at #37 and it took us 15 months to get in. She also would go up and down on the waiting list when I called to check. The SACC office told me this happens because they would occasionally have other higher priority kids get on the wait list: sibling, transfer from another SACC program, as well as kids who are on some kind of mandatory protective care list. And when we transferred my older child to SACC at an AAP center, she got in with no wait, even though that SACC has a long wait list.

I have also heard that if you have morning SACC, you're more likely to get in, although I have no idea if that is actually true. For awhile we had morning SACC and a different after school care program until we cleared the SACC wait list.

Op we were 21 or 24th one year and didn't get in until January of the school year. I don't think you will by Sept...

Some schools don't even have waitlists for SACC.

Is there a date where you need to put some sort of deposit down for SACC? Hoping the spot on the wait list moves up.

My SACC did not move fast and I didn't get into the aftercare despite being #40 on the list around this time of year. I still wasn't in by January of DC's K year.

Having said that, does your school really allow Ks to participate in the after school activities? Mine doesn't. Everything starts in the first grade.

It depends on your neighborhood.

Our SACC waitlist moves really fast but we're also in a boundary that is mostly townhouses and apartments. Lots of transients. If you were in our school, I'd say you'd get in by September.

There are other boundaries that have waitlists that go on for years though- as I heard from a friend of mine who is in that particular school.
