I figured it is always the people who can't afford the homes who make the catty comments about furniture or paint color or something else of no consequece.

Love Palisades. Fantastic public elementary school. Warm friendly neighbors. Vibrant farmers market. Walking distance to CVS, Safeway, Post office, Starbucks, the library, fantastic playground/rec center, and a handful of excellent restaurants. Lots of young families. At 8 am, I have a 10 minute drive to work. (And lots of people bike to work.) Access to nature trails and the Capital Crescent Trail. That particular house looks fantastic and I only wish I could afford it.

Come on. I live in DC and have zip plans to move to the suburbs. But there are plenty of useful places to walk to in the inner suburbs, including a Metro stop.

You can actually walk to useful places in the Palisades, unlike the close in suburbs.
