She came from a low income, immigrant family and was the first person in her family to finish high school, and she told me it was because of me and my photo class that she was able to do it. Best gift ever.

In elementary school, I would give a Christmas gift and an end of year gift to his main teacher and chocolates for the Math teacher at Christmas time. This year we gave all seven teachers chocolates at Christmas. I'm not sure what to do at the end of the year. There is no "room parent" anymore either to coordinate something.
I am a middle school teacher. Most kids give nothing (which is fine!) A few bring a plate of cookies or a trinket. This is a low income school though. My colleagues at the other side of the county regularly amass $1000 of gift cards from their students.
Write a thank you card and call it a day.

What type of gift cards do you prefer? Will a gift card to your favorite restaurant or store be acceptable? I know that my child's teacher likes this particular restaurant and type of cuisine. Do you think that a gift card to her favorite restaurant will be an okay gift to give her since I know she really likes this particular place. I've already gave her a Target gift card for Christmas. So, I didn't want to get her that again.
