I agree! I'm super duper middle class but when I hang out with people from nwdc or mock, it seems that everyone is so status oriented. People act like they couldn't survive on less than 100k.

Good for you, but lets be honest...If you can afford a $1200 a month mortgage, you aren't poor.

I grew up poor in West Baltimore. My neighborhood was made famous by The Wire. I wore one pair of shoes all of high school. Meals were often just starches flavored with whatever cheap powdered soup mix or gravy was on sale that week. that is poor.

You are middle class. Own it.

My base is 70k. We lived in SE DC and love it. Very close to everything, especially with the improvements to 295/395.

We are overseas for now (work) but I look forward to moving back to our place in a few years, especially now that I won't have to leave the neighborhood for Whole Foods anymore.

Our mortgage is $2200 a month, our nanny $4,000, private is $1,000, swim lessons, 4 vacations a year, it adds up. I need another $100k and then I'll be sitting pretty

Ah. Well. I have a 10 minute commute and have tons of like minded friends with and without kids in my area. Annoying to have to drive into dc for theater but that's about it.

All AP courses and 3-5 languages or bust is a must! Anything less you will be a worthless POS.
