We are Democrats and have tended to vote for and contribute to Democrats. (We maxed out to both Hillary and Obama in '08 and to Obama in '12.) For mayor we will be voting for Catania and contributing to his campaign. He's smart, practical and wants to improve schools for all of the kids in the city. We like Catania's independence and feel that he shares the values that cause us to vote Democratic in national elections.

So? S/he would still be concerned about a quality neighborhood school, which is a good civic goal. On a different level, homeowners know --whether their kids are currently in DCPS, graduated or never attended them -- that good local schools sustain high property values.

Everyone I know is supporting Catania. Ward 4.

+1. It looks as if the DME is trying to kill Adams and by extension Oyster-Adams. We are half mystified half furious. And Catania is the only one voicing a strong opposition so far.

Dc voter turn out is always low. Upper class white voters tend to vote more. If Catania can get that group mobilized he will have a real chance. There are 75,000 people in ward 3 and close to that number in ward 4. Every one of those people over the age of 18 should vote Catania!

If people voted for her in the primary, it was a likely a vote AGAINST Gray.

Now, with a viable alternative candidate, I think she should be worried many will jump ship to Catania.

Yes it's a real post and I'm telling you it's true. My kids attend a WOTP school and have no problems crossing over the tracks or the park. I will however, vote for him and attend fund raising efforts.

^^ Honey, don't be the last one to the dance. I, too, am AA and will PROUDLY display my Catania flag, sign and whatever else I can get. He's fighting for education for our kids. What issue is more important in this city right now. If Bowser's agenda plays out no one will know which school to go to and, worse, children from our poorest wards who were given a shot by being given OOB admission to well-performing schools will get kicked to the failing curb. What we need are parents, black and white and brown, whom aren't afraid to stand up for what's right for our kids and tell people focused on race that looks can be deceiving. I'm giving Catania my vote and will be working hard to get him elected. I love my sisters as much as the next person, but I'm not about to sacrifice my child's education to go along to get along.
