It's "a lot." Not "alot."
Carry on now.

Usage dictates grammar. Do you even descriptive vs prescriptive bro?

If I could even slightly discern what you're trying and failing to ask, I might answer this question.
And no, usage doesn't automatically make something correct. It means a lot (see how I did that?) of people are using this incorrectly. This isn't one of those difficult grammar things. It's pretty straightforward. Perhaps you should alot some time in your schedule to learn proper grammar?

did you mean "allot" some time in your schedule...? I hope so!

Yup, totally busted. I always say make sure your posts are clean if you're going to criticize, and I stepped in it big time.

PP here-- BA in English with honors and MD with honors. If you do not know the difference between prescriptive vs descriptive rules for grammar, you do not need to be lecturing others on their mistakes.

Wrt usage dictating grammar rules, anyone who has taken an undergraduate course in the history of the English language will know this is axiomatic. When enough people use something "incorrectly" it becomes correct usage. Carry on with your internet grammar policing though

"Do you even descriptive vs prescriptive bro?" is a sentence to you? I absolutely refuse to believe your fabricated "credentials" because you sound like a moron.
