Another question to ask yourself is how much do you prioritize Montessori? Should Lee turn into a high quality school as hoped, theoretically Lee families will be accessing a Montessori education for which most have to turn to private schools currently.

I live right near 2R and am not a fan, but in your shoes I would choose it over Lee just b/c of location. What if Lee moves halfway across town from you in 2 years?

2R isn't our dream school, we didn't even apply.

I didn't apply either. I did apply to Lee though.

We didn't apply because there was no way for us to get there with going via the Florida Ave cluster.

I understand but I was responding who spoke for "everyone"

A permanent home and metro accessibility along with a potential path through middle school are strong draws. Not to mention the exciting expeditionary learning at two rivers. The kids who did the open house tours were very impressive.

We've been commuting between Takoma and Two Rivers for years. By metro, it's 20-25 min and by car it's about 30-35 min. There are maybe a half dozen or so TR families in the neighborhood, so carpool opportunities exist. I won't say it has been easy, but it has been manageable, and worth it for a great school. Audio books in the car are a staple for us.

I think it is ironic that we stay in DC to avoid a commute, but then many end up having to commute with their kids.

There was a post from a Petworth family maybe last year who left TR after three weeks because of the soul crushing commute. If u live near Fort Totten, red line might be the best.

Two Rivers. Great school with proven leadership. Metro accessible. Not moving two years from now. Quality aftercare.

Do you think it could be worse than 2 Rivers? I know it is a huge crap shoot - but think about where the open space is. Look where charters have moved over the last 5 years. What spaces were vacated - who moved in behind them etc.

Columbia Heights, both CM and IT are leaving there spaces.
