I second the idea of checking out the crossfit website. You can get a sense of the workouts at home before committing that way. I do them at home with basically a few weights I got at Target and saw some nice results. I can only imagine the results I would have gotten had I invested in a membership to a gym and done it with the real equipment.

I love Crossfit but you don't need to spend big $$$ to do it. The crossfit website has videos on the movements and proper mechanics and how to setup a garage gym. I pay to go to a box because it sucks to do it alone. The trainers (I'm not one) take an intensive weekend course and have to demonstrate the movements and know fundamentals in order to pass. Most box owners will supervise a new trainer for awhile (like an apprentice) before allowing them free run of a class.

All crossfit boxes have a free trail class . Get ahold of one and go. Talk to the trainers, decide which is the best fit for you. Each one has a different atmosphere.

Bottom line, try it!

Just be careful. I aggree with the AMRAP poster. I see way to may injuries. It will help you cross train for your specific sport if you are still doing that the other days of the week. If your gonna get hurt, I would rather get hurt during a race then while training for one and thats what keeps me from crossfit. Every training session is like a race.
