I think PP give you the flavor for the school and students, and other posts are telling for the general lack of respect displayed in this area for people who become things like teachers, nurses and physical therapists.

But it's understandable, I guess - after all, we entrust our kids to defense contractors every day and depend on hedge fund managers when a family member is seriously ill.

I went to Marymount University for undergrad. It is a nice school, small campus, lots of commuter students, good curriculum, but agree almuni network is not that strong. Used to be all girls. I am from this area but lived on campus, it doesn't have much of a campus life. I remember many dorm mates being from NE. I have two friends that also graduated - also from Fairfax - we are all in our early 30s and make $100+, one of the friends started her own business that is doing really well.

Can't speak to graduate program.

It's a niche school - as mentioned, for certain graduate degrees in particular. As an undergrad I wouldn't go there, since it's so small, unless I was seeking a Catholic undergrad or knew exactly why I was there.

I have 3 family members that went to graduate school there while they worked n DC.

All 3 went to VA state schools and were blown away by the staff at Marymount. They had an amazing experience.

They are in their 20s and all 3 are making over $100k/year.

Marymount has an exceptional Accelerated BSN nursing program meant for second degree students making a career change from another field into nursing. It's their bread and butter (gorgeous new health sciences building primarily for the nursing program) and is very recognized/respected among healthcare institutions/nurse recruiters in the metro area. I chose their program over similar options at University of Maryland and Georgetown because it was the best return on investment in terms of cost and length of the program. They also have a very respected Physical Therapy program.
