Do not allow them to get information from their peers. I taught middle school biology and when we got to the reproduction part, I always told them they could ask any question they wanted as long as they used the correct terminology and were respectful. They could also leave an anonymous note on my desk with a question and if it was appropriate, I would discuss the next day. You would be surprised at how attentive they were and how little they knew. Some scary misconceptions.
I would advise any parent to take a similar approach- let them ask the questions without you over reacting. This is about teaching them. If you don't know the answer, tell them you will look it up and get back to them. (For example you might not know the details about a specific STD.)
