we had a very small but beautiful wedding for 16 people at Mrs. K's Toll House in Silver Spring and it cost $600. The garden is beautiful and it is free to use for a ceremony/pictures. We ordered off the menu during Saturday lunch - that is when their prices are cheapest. Brought our own cake. We have beautiful pictures and it was so affordable!

I would just think of your favorite restaurants that you consider generally reasonably priced, and inquire about private events/group dining options at those places.

I went to a shower at Maggiano's and I was very impressed! It was much nicer than I expected it would be. I think this would be a nice option.

+1. I don't love the chain italian places but they do a great job on events in their private rooms.

We have done multiple family events there. Everybody lives it. It's practically no work to plan.

Another vote for 2941. We researched a few venues for a birthday party with 25-30 guests. Very pretty/serene setting and great food. Also better price point than 1789, tabard inn, and cashion's.

Jackie's Sidecar in Silver Spring. Surprising good food and kind of a hipster vibe, if that is your scene.

Just a tip, OP - when you talk to these restaurants downplay that you are having a wedding reception and just call it a wedding party or just a big party. When they hear the word wedding, they will probably try to sell you pricy wedding prices...

Toll House in SS or another vote for Tabard Inn, just as PP advised please make sure everything is A-OK with management & tax issues

Boo to you. They are having a wedding. JP and a lovely, small dinner reception for their nearest and dearest. Good for you OP, if I could do it again I would do the same.

Tabbard or Cashion's. But with Cashion's you'd probably have to rent the restaurant which might be pricey.

La Fourchette on 18th has a pretty back room that I always thought we be a nice spot for a private dinner.

we had ours at 2941. wedding was outside--they have beautiful koi ponds, waterfalls then guests adjourned into one of the private party rooms for food which is great.

Cashion's Eat Place. Wonderful food, just upscale enough, but still fun. Plus then after dinner, if it's a nice evening, Perry's roof deck next door is lovely.
