Never. We are offered the options of telework or using vacation leave if we can't make it in, but the office is always open. My boss seems thrilled when "we are seriously the ONLY ones working today!"

One day, during Snowmageddon a few years ago, they told us that the facility wouldn't be ready for people until noon. We were still offered telework or vacation as our options for the day. I've been there ten years, and that's the closest they've come to "closing".

Our office closes if the snow is really bad -- I think it's happened 2-3 times this year. The administrative staff gets a free day off, but the people who can work from home are expected to. It's definitely a less productive day, with breaks for sledding and hot chocolate and such, but I absolutely am accessible all day and working for much of it.

Thank you! Thankfully, none of these storms have been *that* bad and even if driving conditions were not the best, there were few people on the roads which made it easier.

I am also very lucky that DH has a job where he can telework and our kids are old enough to entertain themselves and don't need constant supervision (but don't ask how much tv/video games they've watched/played!)
