OP here - I'm a white collar defense attorney and my husband was, previously, a federal AUSA. I don't have any other friends who have been in jail, but I've dealt with many clients facing time and looked at quite a few sentencing memos.


I call troll. So your husband was a federal AUSA, as opposed to a state AUSA?

Totally speculating here, but could your husband have been with his friend during the incident, and he is not telling you? Maybe he was responsible for the fight breakout and feels really guilty? If not ... Then why would he be so upset? I agree it does sound strange, unless he is just using it as an excuse to not communicate with the family.
