The Goldfinch is quite a tome but great.

If you like The Glass Castle/Jeannette Walls, have you read any of Mary Karr's memoirs? I enjoyed Glass Castle and Half Broke Horses but I like Mary Karr even more: The Liar's Club, Cherry, and Lit.

The Lowlands by Jhumpa Lahiri
The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson (one of the best novels I have read the past few years)

I also loved "Lonesome Dove" by Larry McMurty...if you like wonderfully written historical sagas.
