He is bald because when the cartoon started he was only about 2 years old, as he aged the creators did not add hair. He did not have cancer. He is not delayed, he is actually advanced for his age. why are you asking these questions? It's a very good show for kids.

Hunh. I think Caillou is completely appropriate for kids. Like the show... for them. Calm, kind relationships, infinitely patient but not pushover parents. Gets my approval.

I read an interview with the author and the explanation was that caillou is bald so every child can relate to him and his adventures.

Also, people calling him whiny clearly never sat to actually watch the show. He behaves just like any other preschooler I know. He's polite and learns his lesson.

The whole show is portrayed based on his POV that's why adults don't get it. Kids get it though. My children love him and we grown ups too.

I've never actually seen this show but they play it in my kid's school as a regular treat for the 3-4 year olds after they clean up the classrooms centers. I had left it slip my mind before seeing this thread, but I was trying to decide if I should see an episode first before I complain, our just do it on principle that it makes no sense for there to be nearly daily TV in preschool.

Is there any redeeming educational value?

I think they should expand Caillou and follow him through to his later years. Caillou gets stuffed in a locker, Caillou goes to the prom with his sister, and Caillou goes to band camp would all be good episodes.

There have been multiple threads of hate for Caillou here. I totally don't get it. It's the only kids show I can stand.

My husband calls Cailiou's mom the frumpiest mom is all of kid's TV.

Thank the lord we are well past the Cailiou stage.
