Smart investors don't pay 1.44% for run of the mill public equity. And if you're anywhere near 1% for bonds, you're being robbed.

ps - per the Edelman website, investors incur mutual fund expenses in addition to the flat fees which start at 2%. They better be damn good asset allocators to get over that hurdle.


From listening to the Edelman radio show, they come up with a portfolio for you and then implement it using low cost index funds and ETFs (e.g. Vanguard). That seems like it could be done yourself if you are comfortable.

Based on their fee schedule, the Edelman fees on a $750k portfolio would be $11,500 / year. Wow.

I would like to see more of an hourly model where you can go to an advisor purely for advice and then implement yourself if you want.
