You could also go the "I really want to see x movie" route and so if he volunteers that he went.
+1
It could have been a friend, but I am suspicious that he has both tickets. Did you find a receipt? If he paid for it then I can't imagine a senario involving paying for a friend. Sorry OP.
Really, I've gone out with friends to the movie and been running late, one person gets dropped off at the curb and buys the tickets while the other gets parking and then pays them back with cash, or one person buys the tickets one heads to concession.
I don't see anything unusual about someone who is not married, engaged or living with someone going to a movie with a friend.
OP here. But he would have told me. Hey, it's cool if I take Susie to the movies or would that bother you? I feel really hurt by this and it feels like I have my answer so why approach him.

You have a right to know if you are talking about marriage. Ex girlfriend? co-worker? Do you have any inclination of another woman that is interested in him or vice versa?
Whoever went with him, was not a guy. Do guys older than 16 even go to movies together?
Get it straight now before you marry him.
My husband goes to see movies with his guy friends. Always action movies, raunchy comedies, other movies that the wives don't want to see.
