I remember it and mention to my husband, "hey, this is Fifi's gotcha day!" I don't exactly consider that celebrating.

Our dog has requested donations to her charity of choice ("The Squirrel Project") in lieu of a party.

We have cats. They want destination birthday parties. And no boxed gifts.

Of course.

Puppy gets a small steak with a side of mashed potatoes (because she loves them beyond reason) and some new toys.

She also gets all the lap time she wants.

We also celebrate the day we adopted her, October 1. We usually have a steak dinner and she gets a couple of bites, and cornbread (no idea why, but she goes crazy for it) and a doggie ice cream. We talk about that first day and night in her new home. Sweet memories!

We have rescue dogs and cats, so we celebrate adoption days with treats and a new toy.

Every time you come home to your dog after being away more than an hour=kid's birthday level of happiness for your dog. Yet another way in which dogs are awesome.

Now that my older dog is arthritic and can't walk far on his own, I push him in a stroller to the commercial strip near our house and buy him a hot dog for his birthday. I just looked over at him and it occurs that he might not make it to his next birthday in August. I believe aim going to go bawl now, excuse me ....

This almost made me bawl thinking of how I used to get my dog a hamburger as a treat once or twice a year. I absolutely love how much all of you adore your pups.
