Ours is 9 years old, my husband and I installed the cabinets ourselves, we have them in our kitchen, laundry room and master bathroom. We spent about 12k total(our kitchen and laundry room are quite large), for the white lacquer and stainless steel, we bought our counter tops from a stone place.
They have held up really nicely, no issues with slipping doors or peeling or damage from steam. We have a lot of drawers, which I love and the are still just a smooth to roll out and in as when we first got them.
Ikea was the only place we could get lacquer cabinets for our modernist style house that were affordable.
At this point I would like to change out the stainless steel (its on the cabinets on our island) for a wood b/c I've decided with the drawer pulls we have it's a pain to clean finger prints and drips off, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the cabinets.

We spent $5500 (we bought it during the kitchen sale). 10X12 with drawers, pull out pantry, door dampeners, SS pulls, etc. Our contractor put them in for us. We went with IKEA on the recommendation of an architect friend who normally designs for very expensive residential clients ($3M homes), but personally installed an IKEA for his own home. It seems that a lot of architects do, especially for modern kitchens.

Actually, it depends on the line you use. The more expensive ones use MDF.

How do you know if you have an IKEA kitchen? Are there any markings that help identify it? I've wondered if ours was IKEA.

We spent about $4500 on our cabinets back in 2004. They have held up well. Some of the cabinet doors could do with a little adjusting to get level, but that's my laziness not a failure in the design. I did have to replace the wire rack for the lazy susan at one point a few years ago but that was because I put too many heavy items on it. The design I picked is a little difficult to clean (lots of ridges - they don't make it anymore) which has been the only downside.

It's absolutely the best quality for that price point. My architect father provided the specifications and strongly encouraged it. He doesn't have an Ikea kitchen himself because he had a bigger budget, but he always recommends them to clients who are looking for the budget option as they are much better quality than Home Depot or anything at a similar price point.

I am very happy with the quality as well.
In our one bedroom appartment, we spent about 2000 USD on the cabinets and installed them ourselves (installation is not too difficult if you have some basic DIY knowledge).
So we got a new kitchen for 4000USD total (including new appliances)

I'd like to know how much others spent too.

Our kitchen is a 12x15 rectangle with cabs on all 4 sides. Minimal uppers, lots of drawers, and a whole floor to ceiling wall of pantry cabs. We spent about 4000 on our Ikea cabinets, if I remember right. About $3500 on quartz counters. The kitchen was gutted and the whole thing, including labor, was around $40k, but that was with a lot of plumbing and electrical work, plus new windows and doors.

We spent 7k on cabinets. There were 27 units.

The nice thing about IKEA is you can design your kitchen online and know exactly how much it will cost. Then you can change the style and know exactly how much the more expensive door styles would cost.
It's not like going to Home Depot and sitting with a designer then having way too many variables and never really knowing how much EACH thing costs. You'll get one pricetag and if you want to make changes, they have to do it for you.

We've had ours for almost 3 years now and it still is in great shape. No problems with drawers or doors or shelves or anything. My husband did the installation himself.

We got our counters and flooring elsewhere. It all turned out really well, and we always get compliments on it.

Our neighbors did an Ikea kitchen and frankly, the cabinets have held up better than our significantly more expensive cabinets. I've been pretty impressed with it.

Does anyone come over and say " I'll take a plate of the meatballs"?
