Just refuse to set it up. What's the problem?
I also refuse to use envelopes. We should not let our right hand know what our left hand is doing, and the parish bookkeepers need not know it either.

Not at our parish! He makes a point of not knowing -- only the staff accountant really knows. The church leadership sees reports that are anonymized so no names are shown. But I do agree with the 20% remark; it's always amazing to me how few families are really supporting a large parish operation.

I attend an Episcopalian church that I love but give only a nominal amount to the church though I do give quite a lot of money to charity.
The main reason, is that I don't quite agree with some of the missions on which the church spends its money. However, if there is a specific cause they are raising money to which I am sympathetic, I donate additional money.

Catholic. I give $15 a week, and spend $2-5 after at the donut sale.
I do a larger donation ($100-$250) when there is a push for something, like AC for the school or an appeal
