If her confidence comes from sexy underwear, that is scary.
+1.
My DD is very comfort conscious and finicky about the fit, so she only wears cotton undies, that has a comfortable cut. I cannot imagine thongs being comfortable for a teen who has a super busy day in and out of school.
She also has too much pride to wear anything that has misogynistic words printed on them. Anyways, because I am her mom, I tend to take her intellect and viewpoints for granted, and fail to notice these kinds of self-affirming choices that she makes in her everyday life.

Now my fancy VS lingerie is saved for special occasions (too uncomfortable, too expensive, don't like the extra laundry or to throw it in the family laundry, etc etc). My DD dresses nice (including undies)for herself. She's a very confident, beautiful girl and she really rocks her bikini. I like her teen self much more than my teen self.
