I think we have different definitions of "sexy", OP. Lace, less coverage, bra padding and pretty designs are not "sexy". They are feminine. They're a choice any woman and girl can make for themselves.

It's not like she's asking for open crotch panties!

For health reasons, tell her to stay away from too much polyester near her nether regions. Whatever the marketing says, they're less breathable, and microplastics have been found to adversely affect health (polyester is a plastic). Organic cotton is always better, even though it's harder to find lacey, pretty things in that fabric. But to me and my teens, it's a worthwhile choice. I just bought some organic cotton PACT panties with lace for myself.

I don’t think it’s weird at all. I never wear anything but a thong. It’s uncomfortable to me to wear full underwear!

Definitely fine for her to want nicer undies. VS is where I got mine when I was 16. Nobody wants to be caught dead in Hanes granny panties at that age and girls talk about their clothes and change around each other.

I was raised in a fairly conservative house and was never promiscuous. But, I did have "sexy" underwear that my my allowed me to wear. I remember visiting my grandmother who still hung all her laundry to dry and ironed EVERYTHING and she was completely flummoxed by my thing underwear. We got a laugh about her trying to fold my things and she refused to hang them outside where the neighbors would see it. I am sure she talked to my mom about that.

I am going to have to remember this when my daughter gets older and wants to ditch her cotton panties!

I don't think it's a problem at 16. I would not want to fund it though. Expensive. I like the idea PP said about making her buy her own. Or at least most of it.

Her own money and not to be seen on the outside - it is underwear.

Most kids don't have jobs anymore, so $$$ comes from parents.
