OK. If it's a hypothetical, but the poster really wants IB, it seems like the clearer hypothetical would have involved IB classes. All she'd need to do is tell the administrators at Madison or Marshall they want IB and comply with the standard Letter of Understanding.

As a practical matter, once they get the initial transfer approved, they are not going to get booted from an IB school back to an AP school unless the kid has serious issues. The culture at Marshall, dating back to when it was seriously under-enrolled, is to keep the kids there enrolled and not look for excuses to send them to another school.
