Are you a spanish speaking household? If not, and the only way your kid is going to get language immersion is through school, I would strongly consider an immersion program. We were short-sighted (keeping thinking every year year will be our last) and we went to our neighborhood school (which we love) rather than trying to get into an immersion program. I regret that. I agree with other posters that you obviously need to weigh other factors - the commute for example. Since you're IB for Ross, you're guaranteed a spot for K if you end up not liking a charter or DCPS immersion program.
