You supplement with private speech. It is cheaper as it is run by U of MD at their speech pathology school so it is partially subsidized by the school as training.

The program isn't "subsidized;" it is training for the graduate students.

It is a training program but if you went to a private program like one of the camps you pay 4 times as much. So, it is a reduced rate and reasonable given you get 30 min of private speech each session.

I don't think everything boils down to a dollar amount. For example, Lab's speech camp is more expensive than Leap, but you get twice as much individual ST taught by an SLP vs. a grad student.

National Speech doesn't. LEAP does. Don't know about others.

Depends on the camp.

You should probably contact National Speech directly regarding rates as well as your insurance carrier. Most insurance do not cover multiple visits for individual ST per week unless you have an ASD diagnosis. Even if that's the case not all re-imburse at the same rate.

Also, even though the price tag can be daunting, the summer program at Lab for speech is wonderful--page 6:

(I'm not sure why PP mentioned that speech camps don't cater to younger kids b/c that's primary audience for most speech camps.)

OP, definitely talk directly with camp coordinators to get a sense of what your child's needs are and if the programs would be a good fit. Then weigh the financial pros & cons. Good luck.

I would hang in there. There is a new director for the spring semester. The old director retired so I'm sure the new person is finding his/ her way around.
