I hate when I get in line thinking there's one person with a cart load of stuff ahead of me, then find out it's actually about 20 transactions worth of stuff because the person is using WIC vouchers which have to be rung up individually. And they can only buy specific brands of stuff, and invariably the customer will have the wrong brand of apple juice and peanut butter. Come on WIC, get with the program and issue a card, or at least make it all one transaction.

I am so frustrated by other people blocking the entire aisle. And stopping in the middle with their cart to talk on the phone. It happens so much, over my lifetime of grocery shopping, that I am now going to sink to their level and become a contributor to the problem.

Cashiers/baggers who load all of the heavy stuff in one bag and the light stuff in another. Or when they put light/delicate items in the bag first and put the heavy items on top. Both things drive me crazy!

Its easier to get the stuff out of the cart and from under it to put it on the conveyor belt. Thats why we do it, especially if we have young children in tow who are sitting in the cart.


This is at the Giant in Tivoli (Columbia heights)... rarely kids when I am there. I don't mind folks being in front of the cart while they load the conveyor belt. But put it in front of you when you are done

And my pet peeve at the grocery store is when the self-checkout lanes are open (knock on wood) let's say there are four of us in those lanes. Three of them will not work right and require human intervention taking longer than it would at the cashier-staffed registers. Off goes the 'alarm' at lane 1 and after a few minutes, someone goes to help lane 1. Off goes the self-checkout alarm at lane 2. While that person waits, off goes the alarm on self-checkout lanes 4 and 5...etc. Sucks.


Allowed to talk while the door is open. Government looking into in-flight call regs. Check it out.

Self entitled shoppers who do not return their carts to the cart area. I had the pleasure of witnessing a person leave her cart in the vacant spot next to her car and then proceed to hit it as she was backing out. It was one of the best laughs I ever had.

Um, have you been on a plane in the past decade or two? They are allowed


And my pet peeve at the grocery store is when the self-checkout lanes are open (knock on wood) let's say there are four of us in those lanes. Three of them will not work right and require human intervention taking longer than it would at the cashier-staffed registers. People block entire aisles with their carts. I usually leave mine at the end of the aisle, flush with the end displays but with enough room for someone to access whatever is there.

Shoppers who talk on their cell phones. It is one thing to call home and confirm the type of chicken needed for dinner. It is an entirely different thing to talk to your supposed best friend about the crappy date you had the night before. The grocery store isn't your living room, people. It's why I hope cell phones on airplanes are never allowed.

I do this because some people have no concept of personal space and will get right up on top of you and hit your legs with their cart, etc. I use the cart in a manner to force these folks to respect my personal space.
