THIS THIS THIS. As the former "sister" in this situation, I guarantee that your sister will want to have a space of her own to decompress ALONE for a little time each day. She is not used to living with the chaos of 3 kids. Since you have the space, she deserves her own room where she can keep her stuff w/o a 3-year-old getting into it, make a private phone call, or just escape from the chaos for a few minutes. It would be INEXCUSABLY rude to not give her the guest room. How you make that work is up to you, or should I say, up to your DH. I don't think you should have to sleep in the nursery either, since you are doing all of the hard work here. This. Your DH is a total dick. He can't sleep in the master for a few nights because he might wake up when YOU tend to the baby? I assume you just get out of bed and walk to the nursery? If baby is in your room, DH can sleep on an air mattress in the nursery. Putting a guest in with a 3 year old is insane!! You cannot seriously be considering that option.

Wasn't there a thread a while ago about an aunt who was being forced to sleep with a toddler on a family vacation? Is that your family too?

You sleep with your own 3 year old or you and your husband sleep in your room. That is not reasonable to put an adult with a three year old. Or, put a bed in the baby room and put the baby in your room.

I was thinking the same thing, maybe the choice was between putting your sister in with the baby or on the couch. That's a quandary. Your situation is ridiculously simple: DH sleeps on the trundle bed with the kid, sister gets her own room. If dh can't handle it, he gets the couch. Or...he sleeps with his wife in the master.

Wow, OP. I really think your DH needs to either bunk with a kid, in the master, or on a couch. I would be apoplectic if my DH suggested that my sister bunk with a kid when she is coming to help us out as a family.

I am assuming here that OP is either on mat leave or a SAHM. I got up with our twins so DH could concentrate on his work during the day and I wouldn't worry about his sleep-deprived self getting into an accident. I was able to catch up on some sleep during the day when the kids napped.


Which is fine and all but the man can man up for a couple nights for the aunt that will help with the baby. It's only a couple days/nights, he will be ok without sleep for those days.

So what? I sleep in Tbe guest room for months because hubby has sleep issues, but when my mom came to help he sure did not make her or I sleep on a darn cot! Dude is selfish .

No- if your DH won't move then you need to put the two older kids together in one room or a kid with you. The guest gets her own room if you have a 5 bedroom house. It seems like you may be having some husband problems.
