Pocket book is not exclusively a southern term. My mom (and her mom, and her mom's mom) use/used that term and they are all from New England.

+1 My mother is mid-western and uses it all the time. I don't think it is exclusively a southern term. We tend to keep using the old terms, for example we still call the fridge an "ice box".

no, it's an antiquared term. My grandma who was born in Tacoma Washungton in 1889 used that term. Judge Jusy is from NYC an dis in her 70s uses that term. It's pretty old fashioned.


To answer the question, i have 3 but only use one regularly. I would never remember to trandfer stuff from bag to bag all the time and would always end up forgetting something essential. Ill never understand the obsession some women have with hamdbags and shoes. To me, less is more.

I have a lot of handbags/clutches, but it's mostly because my MIL taught DH that nice handbags are the perfect gift (she loves them and has a closet full of them).

I have a black one and a gray one. Both are from Ross.

1. Not designer, not black. Looking around for a new one, might splurge for a 'designer' bag.
I have a lot of totes though. None designer.

I have 3 classic coach bags (not the logo-happy trendy ones, but normal leather bags in classic cuts and neutral colors), 1 cute red Dooney & Bourke and a coach wristlet. Plus a few evening bags in different colors that don't get out much anymore.

Well, ok, I own one--but it has become so old and worn out I don't bring it out in public. Right now it's just in my closet, holding a few of the credit cards/store rewards cards that I don't usually use.

On a typical day, I carry a little Baggalini Backpack that I originally got for traveling, but it is working well for my every day use right now. It's nylon and very casual--but I'm a SAHM so I don't need to present a professional image or anything like that. The only time it would be awkward for me to carry this, instead of a nicer bag, is when I am dressed up to go out to dinner with Dh--but that rarely happens anyway.


I'd like to buy a nice handbag, but just can't seem to find one I really like. I want brown or black. Leather. Small. Not a lot of decoration/exposed hardware, etc. I don't care what name brand it is, but whatever it is I don't want it plastered all over the bag or very obvious. I like a lot of the stuff I see on the Radley site, but I'd prefer to see it in person before buying and I don't think it is sold in stores anywhere here. http://www.radley.co.uk/

2. One leather one I use for work and one Kate Spade I use for everyday use. I use them until I wear them out, then I replace.
