Naked bottom when you can. Calmoseptine cream, works wonders and soothes.

If DC's bottom is really raw (like, sores and bleeding), squirt baby oil on a wipe or cotton ball before cleaning poop away. The mineral oil makes the wipe glide easily and won't tear off more of baby's skin.

Triple paste is great, but so expensive. Try other brands first, to see what works (Butt Paste and Desitin usually work for us).

Make sure you put diaper cream on every time you change a diaper, even if the baby hasn't pooped -- you want the barrier to be there for when she does poop, which will probably be the next time.

That's so crass. You really call your baby's bottom "ass"?

Yep. And my husband calls it free-ballin'.

This has not been my experience. They aren't as absorbent as disposables, and with firehose babies it's really tough to change every time they pee.

My experience is that the white zinc creams are 1000% better than the "no mess" clear ones.

Naked tushy for as much of the day as you can manage. Change diaper more often if you must have kid in a diaper.

Cloth diapers are better for preventing diaper rash, so if this becomes a problem, you might want to switch.

Triple paste has always cleared it up within 24 hours for us.

No wipes, air time, and triple paste.

All of the above. For added relief for baby, add 2 tbsp baking soda to baby's bath water. This neutralizes the stinging of the diaper rash.

In the future, use a thick layer of vaseline all over the diaper area to create a moisture barrier.

Coconut oil seems to clear up rashes quickly for our baby.

No wipes, only water. Triple paste. Change diaper every hour (check frequently).

We use the CVS generic of desitin. Cheaper and no parabens.

Pinxav is even better than Triple Paste, but unfortunately it is not sold in stores around here. I always used to stock up when visiting Ohio. You can also get it on Amazon. It is amazing (but note it can stain cloth pink, and it has a strong smell, kind of herbal). It can make a rash disappear overnight that other creams can't touch.

Triple Paste is excellent too.

For a really bad or bleeding rash, make a mix in your palm of 1/3 Triple Paste, 1/3 Neosporin with pain relief, and 1/3 Lotrimin. Use a warm wet washcloth instead of wipes. If your hair dryer has a cool cold blast setting, use it on low to dry baby's bottom. Good luck!
