Do most private schools that list job openings on their websites leave the postings up for a set period of time and then look at all applicants at the end of that period, or would they hire someone sooner if they found what they wanted? I will be applying for some teaching positions in private schools, and I am just curious to see how long it may take to hear back from any of these schools. Thanks!

Have you checked the AISGW website? It has most of the local openings listed.

Carney Ssandoe is the placement agency I've seen mentioned.

There's a private school recruiting firm they all use to fill vacancies--can't remember the name but that's where they go rather than conducting their own search.

In my experience, openings usually come about between February and April.

Have you worked with a service? I used southern teachers a few years ago (http://www.southernteachers.com/) and they were really optimistic that they could find me work. I ended up taking a public school position before I went on any private interviews, but I think they would have found me something.

I was specifically looking for middle school math though, so maybe that's why they were so optimistic!
