The Olympics aren't a lifetime achievement award. Yes, she was good as recently as a year ago. Now she isn't in the top 3. NBC needed her after Lindsay Vonn pulled out as the "hot" American athlete. Pure and simple. And the lady she replaced, keep in mind, was an experienced Olympian whose only crime was to not be in the mean girls circle with the other skaters. Yes, she is also apparently a gigantic bitch, but I'm guessing there are more of those in the Olympics than NBC cares to acknowledge.
Sounds like Nancy Kerrigan. People were shocked when they realized she wasn't as nice as they thought she was.
