How about school is open unless you hear otherwise?
That would work if 1) DC had a time by which you could count on them announcing, allowing one to check the announcements at 5:30 a.m., or whenever, and feel confident that no announcement really meant no closing and 2) DC could be counted on to announce closing through every channel they promise to use on their own website.
Currently, DC does not meet either of these criteria. They have a very bad track record for very late decisions, and even when they do make a decision they will forget to announce through all channels.
Check the time stamp of the tweet that schools open on time. 4:38am. Apparently you're the only one with a bad track record of not paying attention to facts and demanding unrealistic expectations. How about a personal call from Ms.Henderson to let you know every day if you need to get ready for school?
Not everyone is on twitter. DC has on their website instructions to: 1) go to certain radio station websites, 2) Check their homepage, 3) Send them a text message to be added to their notification list. If I do all 3 of those things, I should be able to find an answer on one of them. If DC is only going to announce on twitter, then they need to change their website to reflect that.
I don't expect a personal call from Ms. Henderson. I expect DC to follow the procedures they have written on their own website. Well, I don't expect it but I think it would be a nice thing for them to do.

You really don't have to stay. Really!
We already left for a charter which unfortunately follows DCPS's lead for opening or closing during inclement weather.
Well then your issue is with your charter and not DCPS. The charters do not have to follow DCPS lead in openings and closings. They simply must Comply with the total number of class hours. How those hours are accumulated is up to the charters. Therefore, your post should have said "my charter sucks".
DC charters generally follow DCPS. Stand by DCPS sucks - why we left.
