I suppose it's up to them whether they want to get ahead, and whether English is necessary. Every generation of immigrants has figured it out. This one is no different.
The difference is that they are talking to the home country on a daily basis instead of making their future here.

I agree..... this nation may not have a "national language," but English IS the language of business. Immigrants will not get ahead IN THIS COUNTRY unless they learn English. Their job options will be limited. It would be kind of tough to be something like.... an executive secretary or an attorney .... if you can't speak the dominant language in our country. Same with most other jobs. I think it is great if they remain fluent in their home language, but English is necessary to be successful in the US.

You don't seem to have a good grasp of the English language. It is "couldn't care less" and "assimilated." Perhaps you should learn English before you go around criticizing others.
