I think this is the poster case fro parent referral. I understand the bureaucrats don't automatically look at the overall but at the 99th percentile he's a great candidate. If he gets a good teacher recommendation (GBRS) he should get in and do well.

Did you ask for the GRBS score even after they got in ? How did you get the GRBS score ?
Not the OP, but the AART at DC's school makes copies of the files available once they've been sent to the central screening committee. We knew the GBRS before we knew whether or not DC had gotten into AAP. I was curious to see the file as soon as I could.

Really?? Teacher tells you he is #1 in the class, no suggestions at conference. She needs to be fired! As a fcps teacher, I would be appalled if a teacher said that to me at a conference. I would also never let a kids go on autopilot. I hope this is a troll or a joke!
I am also surprised that a teacher would refer to one child in a class as "#1." In addition to being unprofessional, telling a parent that one child is "#1" intrudes on the privacy of the other children in the class.
There is that oft overused word "thriving" in AAP.

one of mine was in AAP, two were close but not in pool.
I let it go. they learned, made good friends, enjoyed their lives and are both A students.

Definitely parent refer! Your child is consistently high and if there is a good GBRS has a good chance of getting in. Don't let the high scores on this forum crusade you, there are people who get in with 118 as the high score. You have nothing to lose and you might regret not referring.

And he was born in end of June that is why his age composite and percentile is high.. I think..

O/T but i think this is the only case i've seen on here where NNAT is lower than all CogAt scores.
All of DC's friends and their younger sibs (small sample of 6 kids) got significantly lower scores on the NNAT in first grade compared with their CogAt or FxAt in 2nd grade (with one exception).
I would think that the opposite of what PP says is true as the kids take one test and then have a whole year to work on bringing up their scores on the second one. (Prepping is the norm amongst some communities - it is the way to ensure one's child has access to the opportunities FCPS offers them - eg AAP.)
