I'm loving this pro-Ikea anti-used furniture nut. I could not disagree more. I'd rather have something old and interesting found off Craigslist/Miss Pixie's than something new (even from a high end store) almost any day. So much more interesting than the cookie cutter stuff in stores. And basing fear of old furniture on a fear of bed bugs or dirt is just weird. Like a table is going to have bed bugs? We're not talking about used mattresses.


Seriously! Also, I mean, you're allowed to like what you like. Me, I prefer the old stuff - as do lots of other people, which is why the prices are so high. Can get more interesting, eclectic stuff, in my opinion.

Great tip about checking Baltimore CL.

They advertise about a week or two in advance of the sale. Google them and see what they have coming up in your area.

Also, go to neighborhood moving sales. People almost give away furniture to get rid of it.
